CGW presents “Costume College 2021 Goes Virtual”

Friday, July 30th – Sunday, August 1st 2021.

Join us for three days of sharing our love of learning about all things costuming!

Registration Opens May 29, 2021 at 9am PDT!

To protect public health and slow the rate of transmission of COVID-19, the Costumer’s Guild West Board voted, along with the consensus of the Dean, Registrar and Hotel Liaisons of Costume College, to hold Costume College 2021 on-line instead of in person.  We will return to an in-person event once it safe to do so.

Costume College 2021 will offer 36 different lectures and workshops all on-line.  There will be four (4) tracks of classes each day. Two (2) tracks of lectures classes, with classes starting at 9am, 11am, 1pm and 3pm each day and two (2) tracks of workshop classes with classes starting at 9am and 1pm each day.  In addition to classes, we will be offering a variety of activities in our virtual Lounge. Look for the Costume College 2021 Registration book with class details and schedule along with the schedule of Lounge activities to be posted here in late May.

Please note that due to moving Costume College 2021 on a virtual format we have revised our traditional program.  Some the events and/or actives usually offered at our in-person event have be modified or removed completely.

Share your love of costuming!

Costume College® is an annual three-day costuming arts conference produced by Costumer’s Guild West, Inc.

We offer lectures, workshops and demos on all things costuming: from general sewing (pattern grading, setting sleeves, etc.) to historical construction methods (corsetry, petticoats, etc.) to time period overview classes to science fiction/fantasy costume construction. All of our classes are taught by volunteers who enjoying sharing their knowledge on a particular topic.  Teacher volunteers come from CGW membership, local costumers and costume designers, industry personal, costume related business owners, craftspeople specializing in costume related crafts, cosplayers, costume researchers, dress historians and sewing specialists. Invited guest teachers are usually experts in their field and are usually selected based upon their expertise tying in with the theme or bonus track for that particular year.

Along with the opportunity to learn new skills, we offer our attendees several social gatherings to show off their creations! We host a Poolside Party, a Friday Evening Social, a Gala Dinner & Dance, and an Afternoon Tea.  The Gala and the Tea each require a separate admission.

We also have a Marketplace filled with fabulous vendors who cater to costumers and an Exhibit Room filled with costumes created by our attendees. Both the Marketplace and Exhibit Room are open to the public and do not require a separate admission.

Costume College is the perfect opportunity to meet people who share a love of costuming! If you are thinking of coming to Costume College for the first time, take a look at our Freshman Orientation page.
