CGW Workshop: Gothic Fitted Dress

The Gothic Fitted Dress, the iconic garment worn by lower class to nobility.  You will learn techniques that will help you pattern, fit, and construct women’s fitted garments spanning from the early 12th century through to the 16th century, be it gown, kirtle or cotehardie.  In this workshop you will come away with a pattern and fitted mock up.  This workshop is appropriate for all skill levels with basic sewing skills.  The workshop will be limited to 8 people.Beckys Highland1

Date: Saturday, April 25th

Time:  10:00 am – 6:00 pm

Cost: $30.00 CGW and sister guild members / $35.00 for non-members

Tickets: Tickets will go on sale at midnight on Sunday, March 1. Sales will close on Wednesday, April 15, or when tickets are sold out.

Children: This workshop will be very busy, so please do not bring children

Food: Lunch will be provided, as well as snacks to keep you going and coffee and tea.

Teacher provides: Pattern Making Supplies & finished garment examples.

Student provides:

  • Basic Sewing Kit, clear tailor’s ruler, paper scissors, and sewing machine, if possible.

About our instructor:

Rebecca is a film industry professional and costume historian. Prior to graduating from FIDM with degrees in Fashion Design and Costume Design for Film & Television, she spent eight years as Clothing Director of a non-profit historical re-enactment organization, honing her skills in numerous historical sewing and construction techniques, including patternmaking, hand sewing, knitting and leatherworking. She also has a love of researching, teaching and all things vintage. Rebecca is the current Costume College Dean and a Director at Large on the CGW board.
